Hope EVO V6Ti: Six-Piston MTB Braking Reimagined

The Hope EVO V6Ti is Hope's most powerful MTB brake yet. Built around a single-piece CNC-machined calliper with six titanium pistons, it delivers exceptional braking power and sustained heat management for downhill, enduro, and e-bike riders demanding the highest performance in extreme conditions. Available from August 1, 2026 as a limited Mono Edition of 1,000 numbered sets.

In 2003, Hope Technology introduced the Mono 6Ti, the first titanium-pistoned, six-piston brake to reach the mountain bike market. It became one of the most iconic components in MTB history. More than two decades later, that legacy returns. The Hope EVO V6Ti rebuilds the six-piston platform entirely for modern mountain biking, spotted first on Tuhoto-Ariki Pene's Zerode at the 2026 DH World Cup opener in Korea before its official launch.

The EVO V6Ti is not an incremental update. It is a ground-up calliper designed around radial mounting, titanium nitride-coated pistons, and a heat management system that keeps performance consistent even under the most sustained braking loads. What Makes the EVO V6Ti Different

Hope has produced four-piston brakes for decades, and the EVO GR4 remains one of the most respected MTB brakes on the market. The EVO V6Ti takes that platform further. The six-piston configuration gives approximately 6% more total piston area than the GR4, distributing clamping force more evenly across a larger pad contact zone. That translates to greater braking consistency under extended use rather than simply more lever force on demand.

The calliper is CNC-machined from a single piece of aluminium, eliminating any flex across the two-piece joint found on most callipers. That stiffness matters on steep, technical terrain where precise modulation separates controlled braking from lock-up. The V6Ti also runs its own dedicated pad shape with two fixing pins and a large bridge between them, which Hope says delivers a substantial increase in calliper stiffness over an open top design. The pads are not top-loading.

Titanium Pistons with Ti-Nitride Coating

Each of the six pistons is manufactured from titanium and coated in titanium nitride. The coating reduces friction between the piston bore and the seal, delivering smoother and more consistent pad retraction. Ti-Nitride also improves wear resistance across a long service life. The pistons are cross-drilled for additional cooling when conditions push braking heat toward its limits. Two pistons measure 16mm in diameter and four measure 14mm, arranged to spread load evenly across the pad.

Radial Mount Design

The EVO V6Ti uses a radial mount configuration, technology borrowed from the motorcycle world, rather than the standard post mount. This removes the dimensional constraints that post-mount standards impose on calliper body size, allowing Hope to accommodate the six-piston layout, increase pad area, and expand the calliper body for better heat dissipation without compromise.

The radial mount requires a dedicated proprietary adapter. Riders should also note that a +20mm disc diameter offset adapter is required for most fork and frame combinations. The brake is compatible with Postmount forks and frames in PM180, PM200, and PM203 standards, paired with 200mm or 220mm rotors only. Confirm your fork and frame mount standard before purchasing.

The T-Slot Vented Rotor

Hope developed the T-Slot vented rotor specifically to complement the EVO V6Ti calliper. Measuring 3.3mm thick, the rotor's brake track is constructed from three pieces, creating a cavity between the two external braking surfaces. Internal fins channel airflow through this cavity, drawing heat away from the pad contact zone. Dyno testing showed up to 15% less heat build-up compared to Hope's standard unvented floating rotors.

The T-slot floating design allows the outer rotor surface to move laterally under thermal load, preventing the warping and distortion that affects solid rotor designs under sustained braking. When the outer braking surface reaches the end of its service life, it is replaceable independently without discarding the central carrier. The rotor also accommodates direct mounting of an e-bike speed sensor magnet.

T-Slot rotors are available in 200mm, 203mm, and 220mm with 6-bolt fitment. The EVO V6Ti calliper remains compatible with Hope's existing 2.3mm rotors for riders who already have these. EVO Master Cylinder Pairing

The EVO V6Ti is designed to be paired with the Hope EVO Master Cylinder, introduced in 2025. The lever body features a roller bearing main pivot, a sliding guide bush on the main piston, and an additional secondary guide bush that keeps the piston running straight throughout the full lever travel. A bleed port at the lever end is a welcome addition over the previous Tech 4 generation.

A new cam reduces free lever stroke while maintaining feel and modulation in the braking zone, resulting in a slightly firmer feel at the bite point followed by a gentle rise in power. The lever is more ergonomic than its predecessor, with a longer lever hook and a dimpled contact area for grip in all conditions.

Two lever blade options are available: Standard and Power. Hope recommends running either with the V6Ti. The Control lever blade is not compatible. Tool-free reach and contact point adjusters allow setup to be dialled without tools on the trail.

Mono Edition: 20 Years of Six-Piston Engineering

Hope Technology is marking more than two decades since the original Mono 6Ti with a limited Special Mono Edition release. Only 1,000 brake sets will be produced worldwide, each individually numbered and finished in a black and gold colourway with a commemorative etch.

The Mono Edition is sold as a complete kit. Each numbered set includes both brake callipers, a pair of T-Slot rotors in (220/200mm) configurations, mounting adapters, both Standard and Power lever blades, three pad compounds covering Race, All-Conditions, and eBike use cases, and a foam-lined presentation case.
